Seed Management
Seed Management
Seeds are like foundation for sustainable agriculture. The response of all other inputs depends on quality of seeds to a large extent. It is estimated that the direct contribution of quality seed alone to the total production is about 15 – 20% depending upon the crop and it can be further raised up to 45% with efficient management of other inputs.

Seeds are the primary basis for human sustenance. They are the repository of the genetic potential of crop species and their varieties resulting from the continuous improvement and selection over time.
Crop improvement and the delivery of high quality seeds and planting materials of selected varieties to growers is necessary for ensuring improved crop production and meeting growing environmental challenges. Food security therefore is dependent on the seed security of farming communities.

Under this, we enable farmers to get improved varieties of seeds, both local and hybrid, from seed experts at ICAR, KVK and GKVK for better yield.
We train farmers on adaptation, arrange and conduct farm excursions and visits to understand dos and don’ts of using the right varieties according to the geographical location of the farmers.
